Mildred Frances Gement – Obituary

Mildred Frances Gement, age 95, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Mildred was born in Ingomar, MS on December 6, 1921, the daughter of the late Charlie and Frances Jackson Clayton. She was married to Dewey Gement who preceded her in death in 2005. She was the owner and operator of The Fabric Center in Aberdeen, MS and later the Ladies Ready to Wear in Aliceville, AL, retiring in New Albany, MS. She loved to sew and did for the public for thirty years in addition to her businesses. She enjoyed traveling and being around people. Her positive attitude was very contagious. She loved the Lord, loved people and people loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Strait and husband Jim of Jackson, TN; a grandson, David Tyler Strait of Pittsburg, PA and a great granddaughter, Adrienne Elizabeth Strait of Germany.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Johnny Clayton and two sisters, Barbara Mashburn and Charlsie Perry.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday, July 20, 2017 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Dr. Philip Jett and Rev. J.V. Davis. Burial will follow on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the New Albany City Cemetery with a committal service at 11:00 AM.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM prior to the service.
