Mildred Esslinger, 82, of Hazel Green, passed peacefully from home after a long illness. Preceding her in death are her parents, Buford H. Power and Mary Waldon Power, her husband of 55 years, Norman K. Esslinger, sister, Reba Jones, and brother, Allen “Butch” Powers.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Esslinger of Hazel Green and Cindy Scott of Kerens, Texas; her son, Kenneth Esslinger and wife, Ellen, of Union Grove; her brother, Ricky Power of Hazel Green; sister-in-law, Judy Powers of Owens Cross Roads; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was Aunt Mildred to many nieces and nephews.
A native of Madison County, Mildred grew up in Merrimack Village, attended Joe Bradley and graduated from Butler High School in 1954.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, May 26, at Lakewood United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., with visitation following the service.
