Mildred Elaine Carter Renoe, 94, of Huntsville, AL, died Thursday at a local nursing home. Mrs. Renoe was born in Linn County, Missouri to Oral and Mina (Cattey) Carter. Mrs. Renoe began her teaching career at age 15, teaching all 8 grades in rural country schools. She later graduated with a teaching degree from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and taught for several years before leaving her career to raise her daughters. She married Morton W. Renoe, Jr. in 1953, and during married life lived in Missouri, New Mexico, the country of Turkey, California, Texas, and Alabama. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, quilting, working jigsaw puzzles, and above all, visiting with family. She also enjoyed researching and documenting genealogy information.
Mrs. Renoe was predeceased by her husband; her parents; sister, Jessie Carter Sappington and Frances Carter Jacobs; and brother, Walter Verl Carter. Survivors include her daughters, Valeta Renoe Crandall (Larry) and Joanna Renoe Goodman (Obadiah); seven grandchildren, Cressi Crandall Scott (Michael), Ami Goodman Wolverton (Dale), Tara Crandall, Patience Goodman, Judah Goodman, Kevin Crandall, and Peter Goodman; and four great-grandchildren, Khloe Goodman, Isaac Scott, Ellie Goodman and Asher Scott.
A graveside service will be held at the cemetery in New Cambria, Missouri, later in September.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse to help disaster relief efforts in this country and other nations.
