Mickie Taylor Harrison, 84 of Huntsville, passed away on January 5, 2024.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Berry; son, John Harrison; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.
Mickie was preceded in death by her father, Lemmie Taylor; mother, Virgie Cornealia Cowan; step-father, Chester Rudolph Cowan, Sr; husband, Thomas Riley Harrison; brother, Chester Rudolph Cowan, Jr; children, Randy Harrison, Lee Harrison, and Kim Harrison Price.
She graduated from West Jefferson High School and was a member of Mayfair Church of Christ, where she served in the outreach program of Monday Meals until her health failed; Then, she was on the receiving end of Monday Meals.
Her first job was at Woolworth’s in Birmingham, Alabama, where she was in charge of decorating the front windows for advertising. She enjoyed sewing, as she made pageant dresses and drum major uniforms for Dora High School. She retired from the banking industry after almost 40 years of service.After retirement she worked in the lunch room at Weatherly Elementary School.
She was a loving mother and will be missed.
The family would like to give special thanks to Compassus Hospice for excellent care, and Sarah Lazenby her nurse and friend. And to her cousin Pat and friend Sandy for helping take care of Mickie.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Berryhill Funeral Home from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Services will follow at 4:00 PM in the Chapel with Chaplain Steven Butler officiating.
