Mickey D. Grammer, 64, died Monday, November 25, 2024 at his home in Shannon surrounded by his family. Mickey was born on November 16, 1960 in Tupelo, MS to the late Charles Ray Grammer and Hazel Jean Kennedy Grammer. A lifelong resident of Lee County, Mickey married the love of his life, Shirley Diane Simmons on February 22, 2012. Mickey and Diane made their home in the Old Union community west of Shannon and was Diane’s heart and soul.

Mickey drove a truck over the road most of his life. He had a passion for guns and cars. He was an avid deer hunter. He was a great provider for his family. Mickey was the most loving husband and father. His greatest passion in life was being PaPaw to his 7 grandchildren.

A service celebrating Mickey’s life will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 6 PM in the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with the Chaplain Tony Corrie officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 PM until service time on Wednesday. For those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed beginning at 6 PM at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/live-streaming and archived thereafter.

Mickey is survived by his wife of 12 years, Diane Grammer; daughters, Jessica Townsend (John) and Michelle Dewery (Sammy); sons, Michael Grammer (Danielle), and Michael Patterson; grandchildren, Lori Smith, Madison Patterson, Brody Dewery, Grace Dewery, Phillip Grammer, Ava Patterson, and River Townsend; brothers, Jackie Grammer (Cindy), and Nathan Grammer (Vida); and sister, Pamela Thrasher. He was preceded in death by his parents, and twin brother Rickey Grammer.

The family wishes to thank Spring Valley Hospice for their excellent care as Mickey’s health declined. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve their friends.
