Mickey Anderton – Obituary

Mickey Anderton, 71, of Killen died Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at ECM Hospital.

 
A graveside service will be Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 3 PM at Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery.  Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family.
 
Mr. Anderton was retired from the US Navy.  He received a Fine Arts degree from theUniversity of North Alabama and a degree in Electronics and taught Electronics atMillington, Tennessee Naval Base.
 
Mickey had an exceptional talent for bringing to life stone and wood.  He made beautifully carved walking sticks that he shared with friends.  He loved the outdoors and walking with his dogs.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie Lee and Gladys Mae Kelly Anderton; two brothers Leon Anderton (Skip) and Lindale Duke; granddaughter Corrye Minges.
 
Mickey is survived by his wife Margie Greer Anderton of Killen; daughters Suzan Evans of Tuscumbia, Kathy Johns of Jacksonville, FL, Karen Minges (Mark) of Florence, and Deb Condon of Killen; two sons Thomas Anderton of Killen and Martin Phillips of San Francisco, CA; two sisters Lola Laurent and Joan Kennamore (Terry); eleven grandchildren Eric Evans, Christopher Johns, Michael Johns, Rebecca Wilkinson, Destiney Anderton, Sara Anderton, Mary Elizabeth Minges, Thomas Anderton, Jr., Bobby Anderton, Mark Spencer Minges, and Jackson Condon.
 
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alabama Wildflower Society Scholarship Fund 271 County Road 68, Killen, Alabama 35645.
