Michael Wayne Manley, 57, departed this earthly pilgrimage for a better land on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from North Miss. Medical Center after an extended illness. Mike was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 20, 1965, the son of the late Billy Wayne Manley and the late Caroline Corrine “Carol” Harris Manley. He lived most all his life in the Mantachie and Tupelo area and was a longtime over the road truck driver until becoming disabled in 2007. Mike graduated from Mantachie High School in 1984 and was a standout athlete there especially in football and track. A man who admired and respected God’s creation and all the creatures therein, Mike loved hunting and fishing and was a devoted animal lover. He took in any estranged animal that showed up at his door. A simple man, Mike had a dry sense of humor, loved his birth and extended families and enjoyed spending time with them. He and his longtime companion, Rita “RJ” Sprinkle enjoyed attending The Orchard in Tupelo
A service celebrating his life will be held at 6 PM Wednesday, June 14, 2023 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Pastor Jay Stanley officiating. The family will lovingly share in the watch care of his cremains. Visitation will be from 4 PM -6 PM Wed. only. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends. Mike is survived by his loving companion of 24 years, Rita “RJ” Sprinkle of Mantachie and her family, daughter Amanda Clay (Elmer) and their children, Hannah and Haylee of Guntown; his only child, Kasey Manley (Katy) of Alabaster, Ala. and her daughter, Kylie Hancock, whom he adored; a sister, Melanie Cleveland of Tupelo; two nieces Mallory and Kelly Reed; two nephews, Nick and Zack; several cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, sister, Melinda Manley Murrell and James Manley.
