Michael Thomas “Mike” Collins, age 66, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 3, 2024, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Baker officiating. The family will also receive friends on Monday, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home.
Born March 9, 1958, in Rochester, New York, Mike was the son of Edgar “Barry” Collins and the late Roberta Brown Collins. Mike was a forklift operator for the General Motors/Ryder Company. He loved motorcycles and animals. Mike cared deeply for his family and was always willing to lend a hand.
In addition to his father, Mike is survived by his stepmother: Judy Collins; brother: Donald (Margaret) Collins of Walworth, NY; sister: Marie Collins (Ken Bulman) of Ontario, NY; stepbrothers: Wayne (Patricia) Jones of Columbia, Randy (Sherry) Jones of Mt. Pleasant and Scott Jones of Shelbyville; special cousin: Sue Reber of Brockport, NY; 2 nieces and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or your local animal shelter.
