Michael Stephen “Mike” Reinert, 65, passed away Monday, May 25, 2016, at his home after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 8, 1950, in Freeport, IL to Gerald and Ruth Anne Kaiser Reinert. After graduating from high school, Mike served his country in the United States Army. He and his wife, Linda, moved their family to Tupelo in 1977 where he worked as a carpenter and supervising contractor for many years. More recently, Mike worked as a technician with K & K Systems. He enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes in his spare time, but most of all loved his family and the time he shared with them.
Services will be held at Noon on Saturday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Lincoln Dall officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 at Lee Memorial Funeral Home. Lee Memorial is entrusted with all arrangements.
Mike leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Linda Reinert of Tupelo; 3 children, Stephanie Canfield (Steve) of Birmingham, AL, Sherylan Webb of Starkville, and Josh Reinert (Stephanie Kay) of Tupelo; 2 sisters, Christine Woolsey (Jack) of Washington state and Jolene Wallace (Bob) of New York; his brother, Doug Reinert (Gina) of Texas; his father-in-law, Ralph Ritch; brother-in-law, David Ritch (Judy); 7 grandchildren, Michael Reinert (Sammi), Tyler Reinert, Eva Webb, Antje Webb, Sarah Madison Reinert, Marshall McReynolds and Megan McRenyolds; his great-grandson, Dakota Alexander Reinert; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bruce Reinert.
