Michael Stephen Bates, age 67 of Hueytown, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at his residence. Michael was born on May 6, 1956 to the late Edward and Betty Sue Argo Bates.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Lynn Bates and John Wayne Bates; two wives, Judy Bates and Lisa Bates; and a daughter, Michelle Renae Bates.
He is survived by two children, Christopher Michael Bates and his wife Kimberly and Sarah Ann Hilburn and her husband Robert; a brother, Richard Bates; a sister in-law, Jan Bates; four grandchildren, Miranda Williams and her husband Riley, Destiny Bates, Jordan Jett, Logan, and Benjamin; a great granddaughter, Finley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Michael love to fish and his drag racing; the only greater love he had was his family. Especially, his kids and grandkids.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 17 at 2:00 PM from the Bell Funeral Home Chapel in Sumiton. Burial will follow in Village Falls Cemetery with Ron Green officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, at the funeral home from 1:00 until service time at 2:00.
