Michael Starnes, a devoted child of God, whose gentle spirit touched all who knew him, went to be with his savior on October 13, 2024 at the age of 35. Born on April 27, 1989, Michael was a man who loved unconditionally, with a heart that embraced everyone and everything around him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 17th at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow the service at Hopewell Cemetery. John McKoy and Jimmy Mattox will be officiating services. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Wednesday, October 16th from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Hanceville Funeral Home.

His love for animals of all kinds was a testament to his compassion, seeing in them the beauty of God’s creation. His gentle and reserved nature belied a quiet strength and faith. A man who sought solace in his faith, Michael was God-fearing and deeply spiritual, always trusting in the Lord’s plan.

To his family, Michael was a constant source of love and support. He cherished every moment spent with them and found great joy in being present for the ones he loved most. His hands were never idle, always tinkering with something, fixing anything that needed care. There was no project too small or too big—if it needed mending, Michael was the one to call on.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, humility, and faith. Though mild in personality, his impact on those who knew him was profound. He will be missed deeply by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mr. Starnes was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy & Gracie Starnes and Sherman & Ethel Crocker; uncles, Randy Starnes, Doyle Crocker; aunts, Kathy Campbell and Dorlene Daniel; special cousins, Angela Campbell, Alan Thorn, Jerry LeCroy Jr.

Survivors include his father, Calvin Starnes; mother, Donna Cone (Don); aunts and uncles, Benita Earl (Robbie), Jenny Starnes-Rasbury, Jerry & Maxine Crocker, Wabelyn Thorn, Ronnie Crocker; and a host of many loving cousins and friends.
