Michael Scott Turner Profile Photo Michael “Scott” Turner passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the age of 57, leaving behind family and friends forever touched by his presence. Born in Columbia, Tennessee, on June 1, 1966, Scott was the beloved son of Anita Brewer Turner and the late Larry Turner.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Gina Carpenter Turner of Spring Hill, Tennessee who he married June 1, 1990; adoring daughter Malli Turner of Columbia, Tennessee; mother, Anita Brewer Turner of Columbia, Tennessee; brother, Brent Turner of Loudonville, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts and uncles.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Larry Turner, as well as his grandparents, Thelma Roberts Brewer, Charles Brewer, Pauline Goosby Turner, and Paul Turner.

Scott gave his life to Christ at the early age of ten, beginning his lifelong walk with the Lord as a cherished member of Highland Church of Christ. He served as an adored special education teacher for the church.

Scott graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1984 and was a beloved saxophonist of their award winning marching band. He then graduated with a Bachelors in Management from David Lipscomb University in 1988 and was a proud member of Tau Phi Fraternity.

Employed by Eaton Corporation from 1989 to 2005 as plant supervisor and engineer and Pioneer Manufacturing from 2005 to 2023 as plant manager, Scott was recognized for his strong work ethic and commitment to honesty making him successful in every job he held.

Scott was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, fishing, and archery, all of which he enjoyed with his beloved daughter Malli. He was a self-taught knife craftsman with a love of metal-working. He also had a love for reading, as he would finish a novel every two to three days.

Besides his own hobbies, Scott made every effort to be involved in the sports and interest of Malli. As she had a passion for soccer, Scott found a love for it as well as he became a beloved coach, referee, and board member for Cook Soccer Association for twelve years. Scott truly left a lasting impression on the lives of those he coached throughout the years.

It was without question that family was the center of Scott’s heart and soul, leading his family with a gentle spirit and kind heart. Malli was the light of his life and source of immense pride and joy. Together they shared cherished memories of numerous father-daughter dates. He and Gina spent 33 incredible years of marriage together as the love of each others’ lives. Their shared faith in the Lord and in each other was an example to all those who knew them. Gina was his faithful and selfless caregiver at their home over the past two years.

Scott will forever be remembered for his Christ-like attributes. He had an extraordinary way of making friends instantly wherever he went and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Scott was known for his incredible sense of humor as he always brought laughter and smiles to all those around him. Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His unwavering love for family and friends will forever be remembered.

The family will hold visitation on Thursday, December 14th at Highland Church of Christ from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 15th at Highland Church of Christ officiated by David Foster of Winchester, Tennessee. entombment  will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Barry Wood, Mickey Shrader, Troy Potts, Richard Pilkinton, Keith Bush, Buddy Stoops, Bobby Jacobs, Joey Cromer, Ken Young, and Ben Woody. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Bogda, Jamie Hubbell, Richard Yates, Sammy McCanless, Mason Potts, Zach Fuller, David Key, Adam Key, Cameron Key, Garrett Shrader, Pioneer Manufacturing employees, and Shell Station breakfast crew.

A special thank you to Dr. Romany Johnpulle, the infusion nurses at Tennessee Oncology, and the nurses at Maury Regional Medical Center for their incredible care for Scott over the past two years along with their continued friendship.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all those who have supported them during their difficult journey. During this time of loss, words fail to describe the feeling of support they have felt.

In lue of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Special Olympics and Highland Church of Christ.
