Michael PopeMichael Pope, age 69, resident of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10th, at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, with Rick Points and Eric Redd officiating. A burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 10:00 AM until the service hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Michael was born on January 23, 1954, in Ardmore, Alabama, to the late William Pope, Sr. and the late Lucille Wells Pope. He was a dedicated worker in construction, specializing in framing and welding, throughout his entire life. He contributed his skills to Mid-TN Construction and Columbia Construction. Michael was a hardworking, no-nonsense man who enjoyed a night out after a day’s labor. His leisure time was filled with fishing and horseback riding, pursuits he cherished. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his son, Shannon “Mike” (Helen) Pope of Franklin; grandchildren, Shawn Pope and Keyairar Pope; a longtime special friend, Yolanda Roberts; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Pope, and siblings, James Pope, “June Bug” Pope, and Mavis Dickenson.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers, while former employees of Mid-TN Construction and Columbia Construction will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Donald Lovely, Kevin and Debbie Farris, Tiffany Marshall, Amedisys Hospice, and his nurse Melanie for the care and compassion shown during this time.
