Michael (Mike) Hood – Obituary

Funeral service for Michael (Mike) Hood, 49, will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Pace and Bro. Mark Walden officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery (South of Danville). Visitation will be Monday, May 19, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Hood died on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his residence. He was born April 12, 1965, in North Carolina to Donald Wayne Hood II and Martha Ann Fones Shell. He was Baptist in his faith. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve, where he served from 1983 to 1989. He was employed by Johnson, Bates and Legg Construction where he was a Heavy Equipment Operator. Mr. Hood was an avid guitar player, who commonly was called “6 String”. He loved to play music with his family and friends. He was a loving “Pappy” to his grandchildren who he adored. He was preceded in death by his mother, and a sister: Layna Sorrell.

Two Sons:
Levi Smith (Ashley), Danville, AL and
Jake Smith (Annie), Moulton, AL

Father:
Donald Wayne Hood II, North Carolina

One Brother:
Tony Camp, Decatur, AL

Four Grandchildren:
Levi Jr., Haley, Katie and Maycee Smith

Pallbearers will be Shane Vest, Dewayne Robinson, Bo Dunn, Josh Sorrell, Arnold Shell and Matthew Shell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Dickey.
