Private family memorial service for Michael Kenneth Ashworth, age 60, of Decatur, will be Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at the Ashworth family home. A public celebration of Mike’s life will follow from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Burningtree Country Club. Shelton Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Ashworth, who died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born February 16, 1952, in Atlanta, GA to Otis Ashworth and Mary Rhinehardt Ashworth. He was Vice President of Sales at Cerro Wire in Hartselle. Mr. Ashworth was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Gary Ashworth.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Eileen Ashworth of Decatur; four sons, Matthew B. Ashworth of Laguna Beach, CA, Andrew H. Ashworth of Villa Rica, GA, Alexander D. Ashworth of Whitesburg, GA, and Dustin R. Teal (Ashley) of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Erica M. Mims of Decatur; one brother, Edwin Neil Ashworth of Palm Springs, CA; his stepmother, Marilyn Taylor Ashworth of Armurchee, GA; father-in-law, Roy E. Flynn of Decatur; mother-in-law, Eileen M. Flynn of Decatur; and six grandchildren, Hayden G. Ashworth and Georgeanna K. Ashworth, both of Indianapolis, IN, Grace A. Ashworth, Emma H. Ashworth, and Abigail J. Ashworth, all of Villa Rica, GA, and Knox F. Teal of San Antonio, TX.
