Michael Allen Hill, age 58 of Decherd, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 3, 2020. He was born January 22, 1962 in Waukegan, Illinois to Virgil Thomas and Kay Hill. Mike was an avid sports fan and taught himself to read at the age of four by reading the sports section of the newspaper every day. After graduating from Franklin County High in 1980, Mike joined the 82nd Air Borne Division and became a paratrooper in the United States Army. He also worked at the post office before retiring. After retiring, Mike enjoyed grilling out and playing cards, golf, and chess. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Thomas; grandparents, Virgil and Oreda Hill, and Eulus and Seretha Stone; aunt, Wilma Jo Stone; uncles, Rodney Hill, and Albert Baker; cousin, Jeff Short; and dogs, Bingo and Lily. He is survived by his mother, Kay Hill; brother, Marcus Hill; sister, Mary (Steve) Swann; nephew, Tyler Swann, and Bryant (Emily) Swann; uncles, Carter (Pat) Hill, and Ted Stone; aunts, Linda Baker, and Carolyn Stone; and his dogs, Chance and Chandler. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am in the Moore-Cortner Chapel. A private burial will be held at Winchester City Cemetery with Jedd Swann, Greg Cope, Alan Garner, Troy Goodman, David Carson, Dane Barstad, and Dewayne Kelley serving as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mike’s honor be made to the Franklin County Humane Society or the Capitol Hill Church of Christ.
