Michael Allen Commander, 78 passed away May 10, 2024 at his home on Lake Wedowee, AL.
Mike went to the University of Georgia then joined the Navy during the Vietnam War. Once out of the Navy, he went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration. After 34 years with the FAA, he retired, and he and his wife Beverly moved from Fayetteville, GA to Lake Wedowee, AL where he loved to fish and entertain family and friends.
Mike was never afraid to speak his mind or make observations, and when he did, it was usually hilarious. He had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. He was generous and compassionate, and he never missed an opportunity to remind his loved ones about the importance of family. He will be greatly missed.
Mike is survived by his wife Beverly Commander, one son, Michael (Debby) Commander of Key West, FL, three grandchildren: Britney Commander of Ormond Beach, FL, Victoria (Nick) Commander-Formico of Key West, FL, Michael Commander III of Key West, FL, three great-grandchildren: Makenzie Burton, and Kennedy & Ethan Formico.
