Micah Scates, age 22, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. He was born October 16, 2001 in Jackson. He was a 2020 graduate of Scotts Hill High School where he played basketball. He was an avid golfer at TN River Golf Course and enjoyed riding RZRs with his friends. He was an assembly line worker at Largo Industries. Micah was an amazing son and brother and to his goldendoodle, Riggs, he was the best “Poppie”.
Survivors include his parents: Brad (Ashley) Scates and Jennifer (John) Rikard; two brothers, Zayden and Ziah Rikard; two sisters, Jaden and Tatum Scates; grandparents; Pam & Tracy Chandler, Dana & Vickie Scates, Pete & Wanda Cruse; and great grandmother, Mrs. Louise Scates. He was preceded in death by great grandparents, Mike Woody, “Papa” Max Scates, R. T. Skelton & Doris Parrish, Billy & Jean Woody, Opal & Delphia Barker, Mac & Irene Chandler.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM, Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Living Water Pentecostal Church in Scotts Hill. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Living Water Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, 2-9 PM and on Thursday, 10 AM – 2 PM.
