On Saturday March 25th, 2023, Mervil Tucker, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away surrounded by loved ones at the age of 81.
Merv, as he was affectionately known, was a heavy equipment mechanic specializing in Bobcats. He liked to tinker with anything that had an engine. He was the go-to guy who could fix whatever you brought to him. After retiring he always had an old truck or an old car that he enjoyed restoring. Besides spending most of his time with his family, he enjoyed reading, anything to do with nature, listening to music, watching old westerns, helping others, and especially spoiling his grandchildren.
In Mervil’s younger days his favorite pastime was racing motorcycles where he took home multiple trophies. He influenced many people with his love of motorcycles by sharing his knowledge and passion for the sport. People were fascinated by his ability to wheel walk for miles. He was the fun, cool dad/uncle that everyone wanted to be around. Family members say Mervil’s children could ride before they could walk. Mervil also had a love of music that he shared with everyone. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing in a band with his brothers or just playing music while gathered with family and friends. His favorites were country, bluegrass and doo-wop.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Carolyn; his daughters, Laurie Nance, Stephanie Britton (Mike), Melissa Flora, Rena Rhoades, Tanya Wallace (Herman), and Nicole Tucker; sons, Randall Tucker (Dollie), Eric Tucker, and Daniel Tucker; brother, Lelon Tucker (Terri); 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and children he loved to call his own.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Tucker; brothers, Arlo, Ray, and Alton; sisters Iva, Melba, Barbara, and Betty; and parents Richard and Irene Tucker.
The family will notify loved ones in the future of a celebration of life gathering. Parkway Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
