Merlene Hand Drake, 74, of Moulton, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at NHC of Moulton. The graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Owen Chapel Cemetery, Youngtown with Bro. Charles Williams officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Born on October 18, 1949 to the late Leman Jack and Maggie Osborn Perry, Merlene worked at NHC for over 25 years, and loved being a care-taker. Her sons and grandchildren meant the world to her.
Survivors include her sons, Mike (Christie) Hand, Tom (Robyn) Hand, Gary (Vicki) Hand, and Brad Hand; grandchildren, Brooke Hand, Brittany (Dexter) Wimberley, Kaylee (Blaine) Kidd, Madison Hand, Zack Boren and Haylee Boren; great-grandchildren, Kayden Long, Luke Long, Briggs Wimberley, Riley Wimberley, Tori Roberts, and Finnleyreigh Kidd; sister, Teresa (Paul) Roraback; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Merlene was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Moses Hand; second husband, Leon Drake; and brothers, Otis Perry, and Danny Perry.
Pallbearers will be her sons and nephews, Daniel Perry and Paul Roraback.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at NHC for their wonderful care for one of their own.
