Merle Frances Baker Adair, 85, passed away on December 22, 2023, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. Fran, as she preferred the be called, was born to Noah Lee and Annie Mae Stokes Baker on October 17, 1938, in Pontotoc, MS. She graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1956. After living several years in South Carolina, she eventually moved to Georgia. She retired from the Regional Office of HUD in Atlanta, and lived many happy years with her husband, the love of her life, Hoyt Frank Adair in Clarkesville, GA. In 2018, her bossy baby sister became her roommate/caregiver. They lived in Avon, IN, until moving back to Pontotoc County in 2022.
She was a great fan of “The Inspirations Quartet”, especially Luke. She was an avid reader until her poor eyesight stopped her. She loved well, her daughter and grans never had to question her devotion to them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Terry Lynn Wallace; and her brother, Waymon Earl Baker.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Worsham of Dacula, GA; one grandson, Jessie Lynn Wallace of San Antonio, TX; two granddaughters, Frankie Lee Reese (John) of Grand Saline, TX and Charlie Alane Light of Dacula, GA; two great-grandsons, Christian Lynn Wallace of San Antonio, TX and Draven Guenther of Grand Saline, TX; two great-granddaughters, Katavina Wallace of San Marcos, TX and Alixandrah Guenther of Opelika, AL; one sister, Rose Cox (Billy Joe) of Ecru, MS; also left to grieve are her special nieces and nephews; and her many special friends in Clarkesville, GA, including Chad Dyer, whom she loved as a son.
Fran passed away at peace, knowing her real forever home is with Jesus her Savior. A private graveside service will be held in Clarkesville, GA at a later date.
Sanctuary Hospice House was her “real” home from June 9, 2023, until she left to be with Jesus. They were kind, caring, and loving, and helped us all to be prepared for this day.
