ATHENS -The Merchants Alley Renovation Project in downtown Athens, Alabama has reached a  major milestone for the alley renovation and work can continue with other features of the alley including lights, art passages, the hanging of the Brittany Howard tribute board, and much more.  The concrete for the Merchants Alley Renovation Project has been poured.

“The major reason we are able to create this public space is thanks to community donations, both monetary and in-kind,” said Athens Main Street Executive Director Tere Richardson. “The efforts of our construction partners, such as Wade Hall Concrete/Gardner Concrete Contracting, who go above and beyond are invaluable to our project.”

The projected date for the alley grand opening is November 5, 2021. More details about the grand opening event will be released soon.
