Melvyn Wayne Shrode, age 82, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018. A private graveside service will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Shrode was born in Louisville, Kentucky on February 12, 1936, to Harold Shrode and Blanche Koch Shrode. He was owner/operator of Beltline Carwash and Lube since opening in 1989. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Shrode was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ron Shrode; and one sister, Betty Lehman.
He is survived by one son, Robert Shrode (Kathi) of Wetumpka, Alabama; three daughters, Jean Anne Goldzung (Rich) of Trinity, North Carolina, and Laura Vest (Robby) and Joanna Shrode, both of Decatur, Alabama; one sister, Patricia Brumley of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley at P. O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.
