Melvyn Wayne Shrode – Obituary

Melvyn Wayne Shrode, age 82, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away Saturday, Mar. 3, 2018. A private graveside service will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mr. Shrode was born in Louisville, Kentucky Feb. 12, 1936, to Harold Shrode and Blanche Koch Shrode. He was owner/operator of Beltline Carwash and Lube since opening in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Shrode was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ron Shrode; and a sister, Betty Lehman.

He is survived by one son, Robert Shrode (Kathi), of Wetumpka, Alabama; three daughters, Jean Anne Goldzung (Rich), of Trinity, North Carolina, Laura Vest (Robby) and Joanna Shrode, both of Decatur, Alabama; a sister, Patricia Brumley, of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials/donations be made to Hospice of the Valley at P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602. The family would like to thank Hospice for their service and support during this difficult time.
