Notice for Melvin Ray "Mel"  Adams, Sr.

Melvin Ray “Mel” Adams, Sr., age 83 of Readyville, TN, passed away June 15, 2023. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late George Washington Adams and Bessie Greer Akin Adams. Mel was also preceded in death by his wife Ladonna Woods Adams and a son, Melvin Ray Adams, Jr.

 

Mel is survived by his son, Michael Bryan Adams of Murfreesboro, TN; grandson Tanner Adams and his wife Destany Rose of Readyville, TN; great-granddaughters, Emmiebell Marie Rose Adams and Primrose Adams both of Readyville, TN; sister, Nancy Adams Boisseau and her husband Allen of Readyville, TN; nephews, Adam Boisseau and his wife Toni of Readyville, TN, and Chris Boisseau and his wife Kerrie of Watertown, TN; great-niece Charlotte Boisseau of Watertown, TN; and cousin, Angel Adams Davenport and her husband Jim of Murfreesboro, TN.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 Thursday, June 22, 2023, following the visitation with Teb Batey officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery with Tanner Adams, Daniel Davenport, Chris and Adam Boisseau, Jim Davenport, Bob Parks, Bill Cunningham, and Andy Womack serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Boisseau, Roy Adams, Brownie Vantrease, John Harney, Bill Rowland, Randy Cunningham, Jerry Benefield, Bill Hunter, and Mitch Wilson.

 

Mel was a member of the Science Hill Church of Christ. He received his BS degree from Middle Tennessee State University and was a State Farm Insurance Agent for 54 years. During his State Farm career, Mel won many awards such as Lifetime State Farm President’s Club Member, Qualified for Ambassador Travel over forty times and the Crystal Excellence Award Member. Mel was one of the organizers (founder) of First City Bank and Bank of Murfreesboro, founder of the Murfreesboro Post, residential subdivision and commercial developer, real estate broker, owner operator of Adams Aluminum, avid pheasant hunter, and love for raising cattle.
