Mr. Melvin Ray McLendon, age 82, of Arab, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
Mr. McLendon was born on January 2, 1937 in Wickett, Texas to J.B. McLendon & Era Faye Coggins McLendon. Mr. McLendon served in the U.S. Army. He enjoys tending to his nursery, fishing, golfing and raising parrots. He attended Old Brashiers Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mr. McLendon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sherrill “Deanie” LeFevre McClendon; sons & daughters-in-law, J.B. McLendon & Trish, Bobby McLendon & Becky; daughter & son-in-law, Kelli Vanak & John; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, J.B. McLendon & Era Faye Coggins McLendon; brothers, Jimmy McLendon & Warren McLendon; sister, Mary Delores McLendon.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Josh Garmany, officiating. Burial will be in Round Top Community Church Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
