Born in Memphis on January 27th, 1954; Deceased June 22nd, 2024
Melvin Morgan Meeks III, also known as “Buddy,” was a faithful son of Tennessee as well as a proud resident of Crossville. He was highly involved in his local community and enjoyed discussing history, politics, technology, and entrepreneurship.
He was the son of the late Melvin Morgan Meeks Jr. and Martha McKelley Meeks. After graduating from Hopkinsville High School in Kentucky, he continued his studies at Austin Peay State University. Buddy spent his career primarily in technology sales. His work took him across the United States, which he rejoiced in as a proud American. He believed in the American way and built a long track record of success in the private sector.
He was a sportsman at heart and spent many years of his life around boats and the water. Moreover, he lived for years on Lake Lanier and was an avid fisherman during his time in Georgia. After supporting his mother through the healthcare system towards the end of her life, Buddy made the decision to pivot careers and work in the health insurance industry. He thoroughly enjoyed helping people better understand the insurance marketplace and finding the best plans for their needs.
Buddy lived in many cities and towns across the southeast during his time on Earth, but his final home was off Lake Tansi in Crossville, Tennessee. He loved his community so much that he became involved in a large social media group, specifically “Relocate to Tennessee,” which is dedicated to helping others move to this wonderful state. He will be remembered for being honest, humorous, humble, caring, and a loyal friend.
He is predeceased by his father, Melvin Morgan Meeks Jr., mother, Martha McKelley Meeks, and his bonus mother, Ruby Mae Turner Brown. He is survived by his Sister, Martha Elizabeth Meeks, Brother, Martin Collier Meeks, Uncle, Lewis Meeks, Cousins: Sallie King Norton, Carmine King Jordan, Newton Dudley King, Linda McKelley Gloyeske, Nephews: Timothy Adam Bright, Matthew Brian Meeks, Nieces: Laura Elizabeth Meeks, Summer Star Bright Brashears, Amber Dawn Bright, and many other relatives and loved ones he enjoyed keeping in touch with over the years.
