Melvin Howard Nixon, 68, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at his residence. Melvin was a retired jeweler. He loved singing and playing the piano, and was a member of several quartets over the years. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, and especially loved his schnauzers. He is survived by his spouse, Pam Crowe Nixon of Tishomingo; three brothers-in-law, Faye Crowe of Tishomingo, Bozo Crowe (Joyce) of Tishomingo, and Donald Crawford of Paris, TX; and four sisters-in-law, Nannie Sue Highfield of Cherokee, AL, LaVelle Crowe of Tishomingo, Brenda Williams (Cecil) of Tishomingo, and Imogene McKee of Tishomingo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Sylvia Estes Nixon; his father and mother-in-law, George and Zelma Crowe; five brothers-in-law, Ray Crowe, Gustava Crowe, Leonard McKee, Fred Smith, and David Highfield; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Crawford and Fannie Smith; and two nephews, Kenny Highfield and Garrett Crowe. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 2, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Faye Crowe and Bro. Joe Ball. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers include Tim Wisnewski, Terry Wood, Jessie Barnes, Teddy Barnes, Robert Frost, and Roger Barnes. Honorary pallbearers include Glen Goss, David Thornton, Richard Pickens, and Danny McKee. Visitation is scheduled for 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 2, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka.
