Melvin Eugene Haun, of Florence, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Glenwood Healthcare. He was 84.
The visitation will be at Elkins Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chris Compton officiating. Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Haun was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church and was a crane operator for 50 years with TVA. He participated in the building of Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant and the reconstruction of Guntersville Dam, Wheeler Dam and Wilson Dam among other projects. A favorite pastime was listening to the sacred music sung at the Gaither family concerts.
Mr. Haun and his wife Maebelle celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 26th of this year. He is survived by Mrs. Haun, a daughter Regina Carey and husband Steve of Brentwood, Tennessee, a son Jack Haun and wife Debbie of Port Orange, Florida, grandchildren Chris Haun and wife Jeneice of Ormond Beach, Florida and Kirk Haun of Daytona Beach, Florida, and great-grandson Parker Brady Haun. He will be missed by his beloved Boston Terrier Bridgett.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Haun.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Wicks, Gary Cox, Dewayne Roden, Chris Roden, Bobby Collins and Jeremy Wicks.
