Funeral Service for Melody Kay Waldrop Echols, 51, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 12:00pm at Westmeade Baptist Church with Rev. Justin McAlpin officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 10:00am -12:00pm at the church.
Melody was born September 8, 1972, in Louisville, Kentucky to Robert Emerson and Sandy Horton Waldrop. She died Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
She taught school for 15 years and was currently teaching at CAPNA Decatur City HeadStart location. She was an active member of Westmeade Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and praise team. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
Melody was preceded in death by her husband, Jason Edward Echols, father, Robert Emerson Waldrop, mother-in-law- and father-in-law, Aaron and Nella Echols.
She is survived by, daughter, Reagan Nella Echols; son, Dawson Edward Echols; mother, Sandy Horton Waldrop, sister, Celeste Waldrop Cook (Jeff), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
