Jo Blaxton of Union Grove, Alabama passed away at her residence on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the age of 80.
Mrs. Blaxton was born to Sherwin and Barcie Green Walker on October 9, 1941 in Marshall County, Alabama. Mrs. Blaxton retired from Chrysler. Mella Jo loved flowers and gardening. She was a fabulous cook, admired for her cornbread and chicken ‘n dumplings. For years, she cared for pet birds at her home, alongside a number of cats and dogs. Some of her favorite things were hummingbirds, butterflies, growing flowers, and mowing her yard on her John Deere riding mower. She enjoyed taking family trips throughout the southeast. Her greatest love, however, was her family.
Mrs. Blaxton leaves behind memories to be cherished by her daughter, Donna Jo Montgomery; son, David Hornbuckle (Daphney); sisters, Sherry Saint and Sheila Bailey; granddaughters, Telisha McNaughton (Jeff) and Kasey Nelson (Jared); great-grandchildren, Ryan McNaughton and Peyton, Isaiah, and Adah Nelson; and a host of nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Blaxton is at last reunited with her first husband, Kenneth Hornbuckle; her second husband, Herold Junior Blaxton; parents, Sherwin and Barcie Walker; and brothers, Marlon Walker, Garland Walker, and Jessie Walker.
A visitation will be held at Brindlee Mountain Heritage Chapel at Morgan City on Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place immediately after at the Brindlee Mountain Chapel on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. with David Mangum officiating.
Interment is to immediately follow services at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Union Grove.
