Melissa Iris Flores, age 54, passed away on January 28, 2021 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. The family has chosen cremation and will schedule a service at a later date. Melissa was born on November 10, 1966 in Texas to Efrain and Amelia Flores. She graduated from Weslaco High School and attended the University of Texas, Pan Am. She was a devoted Catholic. She was a Special Education Instructor for the Weslaco Independent School District and the Progresso Independent School District in Texas. She had a great love for children and helping them succeed in school and in life was important to her. She loved to read books, she loved to bake, she loved to travel and she loved music. She was married to Francisco Perez, who survives, and they were residents of Stanton, TN. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Felipe Perez, Jr; three sisters-in-law, Diana Perez, Ida P. Aguliar and Esther P. Recio; her mother-in-law, Irenia Perez, along with many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many friends and neighbors whom she loved dearly including Nash, Eddie, Jana, Allan Sterbinsky (the Mayor of Stanton), Father Richard, Father Martin, Bonnie, Matt, Charlene, Ruth, Lance, Tim, Lynn, James, Brian, Don, Garrett, Will Washington, Fred, Gilly, Ray, Moses and Sue Ellen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Efrain C. Flores and Amelia Roderiguez Flores; her father-in-law, Felipe Perez, Sr.; three sisters-in-law, Irene P. Hernandez, Rosendo Perez and Susie Perez. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
