Melissa Dawn Kinne Trotman – Obituary

Melissa Dawn Kinne Trotman, 45, retired Registered Nurse and resident of Gallatin, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Johnathon Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in Kittrell Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born January 22, 1972 in Davidson County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Merle Kinne and the late Jane Anne Delk Kinne. From 1990 – 1993, she attended Austin Peay University where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She earned her Nursing Degree from Northwest-Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Her career in nursing included several years as Nurse Manager of the Cardio Thoracic Recovery Unit at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence; and she had more recently been employed at Tri-Star Centennial Hospital in Nashville. She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting quilts and blue Mason jars. Above all, she loved her friends and family; and she always said her daughter was her proudest accomplishment. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Madison Bailey Trotman of Florence, AL; sisters, Debbie (Mike) Martin of Killen, AL; Donna (David) Waller of Cookeville; Denise (Mark) Kimbell of Gallatin, Susan Kinne of Muscle Shoals, AL; brother, Duane Kinne of Choctaw, OK; special niece, Rebecca (Tommy) Rippey of Killen, AL; and several other nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Luke Kinne; and grandparents, Paul & Alethea Delk and Merle & Margaret Kinne.

Active pallbearers will be Duane Kinne, Tommy Rippey, Macale Rippey, Trey McFarland, Michael Martin, Jr., Mark Kimbell, Matt Waller, and Daniel Kimbell. Mike Martin, Sr., will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to all who were involved in Melissa’s care, recovery, and rehabilitation after her strokes.
