She was married for 39 years to her husband, Donnie, until his passing in 2015. Melissa was a wonderful wife, mother, “Maw Maw” and aunt who loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Melissa was a nurse at Walker Baptist Medical Center for 23 years. She felt her calling was to take care of others, and that was shown throughout her life. Melissa loved and cared for everyone she encountered and truly wanted the best for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Bryant, her mother and father, Aronie and Charlie Duncan, sisters-Margie Russell, Marlene Ballenger, Marie Lockhart and Myra Bagwell; brother-Marvin Duncan; brothers-in-law-Bruce Russell, Raymond Ballenger and Henry Bagwell.

Melissa is survived by her daughter, Candice Alexander (Chris) and son, Steven Bryant (Sasha Nichols). She has six grandchildren-Cora Grace (Adam), Logan Alexander, Nate Alexander, Rachel Alexander, Luke Bryant and Evalyn Bryant along with three great grandchildren-Nathan, Oliver and Eliza Grace. In addition to these are her brother-in-law, Eddie Lockhart, special nieces and nephew Anita Rhodes, Carlene Phillips (Jeff), Buddy Ballenger, Cindy Keeton Franks, Sandy Lawrence (Chris), April Franks (Richard) along with a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Melissa was a true blessing to her family and will be dearly missed.
