Melinda Russell Bray, 72, passed at home in Hernando, MS on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Melinda was a graduate of Algoma High School, working for the USPS and other mailing services for 20 years and was also the owner of Thaxton Grocery for several years. She enjoyed painting, growing flowers, games and social time at her community club house, and spending time with family and friends.
Melinda is survived by her children, David (Chrissy) and Bradley (Morgan) Hooker; grandchildren, Joshua, Cameryn, Wilson, Jackson, Madelyn, and Bradley Rayson Hooker, Cayden Vaughn, and Mason Heilman; and her brother, James Russell (Lois).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Bray; her parents; her siblings, Mary Lynn Tackett, Jeanete Perkins, Martha Jean Herndon, Lawrence Russell, and Leon Russell.
Services will be 12PM Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Jim Varnon officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20th 5-8PM and Wednesday, February 21st 11AM until service time. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
