Melinda “Mendy” Catherine Brashier Phillips, 44, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019. She was born July 25, 1974 in Florence, AL to the late William “Mike” Michael Brashier and Susan Price Cottrell who survives; and was the wife of four years to Brian Stewart Phillips who survives.
Mendy was employed with Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services in Winston Salem. She enjoyed gymnastics, ballet, yoga and was an avid Auburn football fan. Mendy attended the Elevation Church.
Survivors other than her husband, Brian Phillips and her mother, Susan Cottrell include her stepfather, Douglas “Doug” Eugene Cottrell; her sons, Tyler Daniel Hale and wife, Lydia and Trent Michael Hale; stepson, Nicholas James Phillips; stepbrother, Nicholas “Nick” Eugene Cottrell and wife, Jenny Lee; nephews, Owen Jackson and Evan Jackson; mother-in-law, Becky Crawford Wright; sister-in-law, Kara Dawn Wright and her dear friends, Star Shuping and Teresa Cook.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Christine Price and William “Bill” Price; and her paternal grandparents, Maxine and William “Bill” Brashier.
The celebration service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Roger Barefoot, with the burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
