Melinda Leigh Sims, 45, of Elkmont, AL, passed away on December 6th, 2023. She was born on November 25th, 1978, in Alabama, to Tommy and Norma Jean (Chambers) Carr.
Ms. Sims is survived by her daughter Madison Barnes (Lucas); mother Norma Jean Lasater; father Tommy Carr; extended family Sandra and Jerry Barnes; sister Jaquata Thompson and Tina Smith; brother Charlie Lasater; nieces Ainsley Thompson, Breanna Barnes, and Autumn Barnes; nephew Abel Tankersley; stepchildren Yancy Sims, Matthew Sims, Elizabeth Sims, and Emily Sims; ex-husbands Jason Barnes and Shaun Sims; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and bonus children.
She is preceded in death by her stepfather Charles Lasater; and sister Tammy.
Funeral service will be Monday, December 11th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Tony Turner officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Lucas Grubbs, Jason Barnes, Logan Thompson, Shaun Sims, Yancy Sims, and Matthew Sims. Honorary Pallbearer will be Shane Chambers. Burial will be at Blanche Cemetery.
Ms. Sims loved both making and designing Legos. She loved shopping, spending time with family, and taking vacations. She loved playing with her dog, Poppy, and her “grandpup”, Maya.
