was born in Corinth, Mississippi on February 16, 1932 the daughter of the late Robert Emmett and Teadie Mae McCormack Garrett.

On May 26, 1950 she was united in marriage to James Edward Hudson, who preceded his wife in death on August 11, 2014.

Melba worked in the quality assurance department for Hershey Foods in Hershey, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Savannah Church of Christ. Melba was an all star basketball player for the famous 1950 Michie High School team.

She departed this life on Sunday, November 6, 2022 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 21 days.

Melba is survived by her son, James R. Hudson of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Jefferson, Emily Ann Dice, Charlotte Yeglic, and Christian Fahnoe; and great grandchildren, Easton Dice, Ella Dice, Mattie Dice, Joey Yeglic, Julia Yeglic, James Jefferson, Edward Jefferson, and Robert Jefferson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Edwina Carol Service; brothers, Charles “Bud” Garrett, Robert Garrett, and Mack Garrett; and one sister, Mary Bess Garrett-Gray.
