Melanie King Jones, age 53, of Arab, AL, passed away July 27th, 2024. Melanie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Ricky Jones; daughter, Emilie Dockins (Eric Dockins); and son, Jake Jones (Emily Jones). She is also survived by her mother, Brenda King Draper (Bruce Draper), father-in-law JC Jones, and sisters, Jennifer Poe (Aaron Poe), and Keri Godbee (Chad Godbee).
Melanie had two bonus grandchildren, Kensley and Kennedy Dockins, nephews, Payton Lilly and Sean Poe and nieces, Breanna Poe, Anslee Godbee, Averie Lilly, and Addie Godbee. Melanie also had many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her father, Jimmy King, mother-in-law, Shirley Jones, and brother Scott King.
Melanie was a member of Eddy Missionary Baptist Church and a faithful believer in our Lord, Jesus Christ. She loved her husband and kids more than anything in this world and was always proud to talk about them. She also deeply loved her parents, always sharing fond memories of her daddy, and leaning on her mother. Melanie’s hobbies consisted of doing her hair (constantly), collecting large amounts of make-up, crunching ice, and spoiling everyone she loved at Christmas.
Melanie was loved by all who knew her. She was strong and known to be quite sassy. Melanie was a fighter until the very end, but always kept her sweet, loving smile through it all.
Melanie will be dearly missed by all, but her memory will live on in our hearts until we are reunited with her in the presence of the Lord.
Services for Melanie will be at Eddy Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, July 29, 2024. The family will greet friends and guest from 12:00 until 2:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 2:00. Brother Larry Mann will officiate.
