FLORENCE – May’s First Fridays is a celebration of First Responders; the event is set to take place Friday, May 1 from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Florence.
“We’ve got the American Red Cross, Florence fire and police departments as well as the Underwood-Petersville Volunteer Fire Department on track to attend,” said First Fridays chairman Andy Frith. “Honoring them at First Fridays is just one more way we can thank them for keeping our city and the residents safe.”
Music will kick off on the Big River Broadcasting Stage that evening with Audiovysion,
followed by The Dogwood Vandals, both of which are quickly becoming local favorites.
Several nonprofit agencies will also be at the May First Fridays, including fundraisers for the Children’s Miracle Network, CASA, the Coffee High School Alumni Scholarship Committee, and the Blue Door Thrift Store.
There will also be a Classic Car Cruise-In that will include the Corvette Club as well as the Shoals Car and Truck Club. Look forward to Classic Car Cruise-Ins again in July and September.
The May event will also showcase a wide variety of vendors – almost 100 of them this month – who will line Court Street and sell their hand-crafted items that include jewelry, original artwork, and clothing.
“As always, we’re excited to bring a fun night of family-oriented activities to the downtown,” Frith said. “We’re hoping for good weather and a great turn out, and we’ve got some exciting things planned for the months ahead.”
In June, the theme will be Get Up and Go!, and August will be the 10th anniversary celebration.
