Ms. Maxine McKay, age 94, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin, AL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Cooper Cemetery in Detroit, AL. David Spann, Austin Spann, and Reed Eaves to officiate the services. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00pm until 2:00pm.

Maxine was born on July 6, 1930 in Marion County Alabama to the late John Daniel Rye and the late Virginia Lee Rye. She attended Webb School. Maxine was a member of the Mulberry Springs Baptist Church. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard. Maxine enjoyed cooking and made many delicious meals, but was known by her family for her mean Sweet Potato Cobbler. She loved and adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Maxine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
