Maxine Joyce Whitten, age 88 of Muscle Shoals, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born June 15, 1935 to August and Faye Lemke. Maxine loved taking care of her children and grandchildren, along with many others. She provided childcare in her home. Maxine loved going on mission trips all over the United States and cooking for the mission team, who lovingly called her “The Biscuit Lady”. She loved attending church and reading her Bible.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. at Antioch Baptist Church in Phil Campbell, where the service will begin at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be held in the adjoining cemetery. Brother George Whitten and Brother Gary Wakefield will officiate.
Maxine is survived by her sons, George (Virginia) Whitten, and Phillip Whitten; daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Hedrick; brother, Wayne (Sharon) Lemke; Grandchildren, Joshua Wakefield, Lindsey Overton, Jennifer Wakefield, Jessica Wakefield; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Whitten Sr.; daughter Linda Wakefield; son, Mark Whitten; and parents, August and Faye Lemke
