Maxine CollinsMaxine Collins, 87, of Athens, passed away Friday, May 31st, 2024, at her residence. She was born March 7th, 1937, in Alabama, to Howard and Nancy Ann (Reece) Collins.

Mrs. Collins is preceded by her parents Howard and Nancy Ann Collins; husband Barney Gene Collins; three brothers; one sister; daughter Jeanea Wallace; and 1 great-grandson Josiah Miller.

She is survived by her children Anne Jackson (Clay) of Athens, AL, Pat Carter (Craig) of Lexington, AL, Tony Collins (Angie) of Athens, AL, Tim Collins (Myra) of Athens, AL, Rhonda Miller (Randy) of Ardmore, AL, and Shannon Harrison of Lexington, AL; sister Elizabeth Evans of Athens, AL; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law Connie Collins of Athens, AL; several niece and nephews; and other close family members.

Mrs. Collins was a member of Blackburn Road Baptist Church. She loved reading, her flower beds, the Atlanta Braves, and fishing.

The service will be Monday, June 3rd, 2024, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, at 11:00 a.m., with Bro. Greg Patrick and Bro. Heath Harrellson officiating. Visitation will be Monday, from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Cody Neely, Jeremy Miller, Tyler Neely, Jason Miller, Eric Jackson, and Tracy Collins. Burial will be at Hester’s Chapel.
