Max Lowery CoxMax Lowery Cox, 83, passed away December 22, 2023, at his home in Pontotoc County. Born to Alvis and Irene Henderson Cox on September 11, 1940, in Pontotoc County, MS, Lowery was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church. He married Carolyn Brown on September 5, 1959, and they enjoyed 56 years together at the time of her passing. He enjoyed MS State Athletics, especially with his special friend, Ray Leeper. He also enjoyed golf, playing pool, dominoes, hunting and fishing, and riding grandkids and great grands on the side by side and tractor!

Lowery is survived by his son, Mike Cox (Leda); his daughter, Cindy Black (Ken); his grandchildren, Kristen Catledge (Charles), Michael Cox (Kathryn), MacKensey Jackson (DJ), Maddie Black, and Maegan Black; his great-grandchildren, Charlie, Ben, and Hannah Catledge, Camden and Harper Cox, and Lucas, Mason, and Nolan Jackson; his sisters-in-law, Margie and Dorothy Cox; and his special caregivers, Joann Morris, Laura Emery, Bobbie Jo Emery, and April Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Cox; his parents, Alvis and Irene Cox; and his brothers, Zane and Wayne Cox.

Services will be Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 2PM at Zion Baptist Chruch with Bro. Greg Herndon officiating. Visitation will begin at 12PM and continue to service time. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be DJ Jackson, Charles Catledge, Michael Cox, Ken Black, Mike Russell, and Mike Altom

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Zion Cemetery Fund.
