Funeral service for Max Jefferson “Jeff” Harris, age 65, of Trinity will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wendell Bennett officiating. His family will receive friends on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Harris, who died Thursday, August 10, 2023, at his residence, was born September 12, 1957, in Alabama, to Clarence Harris and Swannie Ham Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jeff retired following 26 years at 3M and 19 years at Wolverine. At age 14 he started working at Johnson Auto Parts which began his love for cars. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, crappie fishing, cars, and pawn shopping, and was a devout fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Jeff’s walk with the Lord began in 1986 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene (Smith) Harris; son, Justin Harris (Ann Marie); daughter, Leslie Harris (Kelli); brother, Clarence Harris (Betty); six sisters, Betty Terry (Calvin), Jean Murphree, Brenda Owens (Don), Dean Baucom (Charlie), Pat Long (John), and Tammy Wilhite (Bobby); and his beloved pets, Piper, Maggie, and Charlie.
Pallbearers will be Kim Hensley, Chase Hensley, John Long, Jeremy Patterson, Boone Terry, and Chase Hollaway; Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Gill Family Medicine, Clearview Cancer Institute, Southern Care/New Beacon Hospice staff, especially nurses, Sarah Huff and Kimberly Pace. They also extend their gratitude to the compassionate friends and neighbors who were so gracious and kind during Jeff’s illness and passing.
