Maury Randolph “Randy” Pigg, 88, a retired Chaplin, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his Father, Maury Henry Randolph Pigg, Mother, Sara Hill Pigg and, daughter, Tracy Pigg. He is survived by many special family members and, friends.
Born June 30, 1934 in Maury County, he attended Columbia Military Academy and, went on to serve as a Pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He later became a teacher. He was an accomplished singer/song writer, with several of his songs recorded, and performed by Gary S. Paxton. Randy was the Founder of Mountain Jail Ministries, an outreach ministry in which he preached, and sang songs for the inmates. He became the Chaplain of Fannin County Jail and, due to health reasons, retired after ministering there for over 20 years.
A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at 3pm, CT on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home, Columbia, TN, with David Thomas officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 to 3pm. Following the service, internment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The following Saturday, November 12, 2022 a Memorial Service will be held at 4pm ET at Bethel Baptist Tabernacle, 3165 Buchanan Road, SE, Cleveland, TN. The service will be officiated by Sam Blankenship.
