Maureen Reid Miller, at the age of 82, died peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at her residence at Generations Assisted Living in Saltillo. Maureen was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. She was the only daughter of Charles Reid and Helen Leiper Reid. Growing up, Maureen was an avid reader who dreamed of traveling the world. Her career path with the British High Commission made her dreams reality when she was assigned to Karachi, Pakistan. While in Pakistan, she met her future husband, Bert R. Miller, who was stationed there with the United States Air Force. They married in 1965. Following his retirement from the military, they moved to Corbin, Kentucky. For 29 years before her retirement, Maureen was a manager and buyer for Belk Department Store.
Maureen was devoted to her family and especially adored her grandson, Reid. In 2003, Maureen and Bert, moved to Tupelo, Mississippi to be closer to their daughter, Sarah; son-in-law, Dwight; and grandson. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo; she especially enjoyed her “sistahood” Sunday school class. Maureen was an amazing vegetarian cook. She enjoyed new recipes, and her husband often said “he never had the same meal twice”.
Maureen is survived by her daughter, Sarah Hardison, and her husband, Dwight, of Belden; grandson, Reid Hardison; and many other loving family members in Scotland and Australia.
She is preceded by her parents, Charles and Helen Reid; and her husband, Bert R. Miller.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced soon.
The family extends their deepest gratitude for the love and care received at Generations. Additionally, they are grateful for the love and care provided by Enhabit Hospice.
