Maureen Delores Carr
June 5, 1939 ~ November 2, 2021 (age 82)

Maureen was born in Bellingham, Washington to Merrit E. Carr and Barbara Wirick Carr. She is the oldest of 5 children. Siblings are Marilyn Kuhns, Steve Carr, Susan Jones and Bruce Carr.

Maureen graduated from St Joseph with a Nursing Degree in Richmond, Washington and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee. She received Bachelor of Science in Nursing, at the University of Texas, Arlington, Texas and her master’s degree at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas.

In 1965, Maureen worked at Brewster Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. She was commissioned in the United Methodist Church that year as a Deaconess. In 1975, Doris and Maureen moved by Greyhound Bus from Jacksonville, Florida to Fort Worth, Texas. Maureen went to Harris Methodist Hospital, where she was head nurse on the post-surgical floor. In 1996, she transferred to Hurst, Euless, Bedford Methodist Hospital, where she worked on the Rehabilitation Unit. She was awarded Great 100 Nurses that year by the Texas Nursing Association. Maureen retired from the hospital in 2004. At that time, she moved to Asheville, North Carolina. During retirement she served as a parish nurse at Central United Methodist Church. In 2020, Doris and Maureen moved the Huntsville, Alabama.

Maureen loved to travel across the United States and visit Presidential Libraries. She enjoyed watching western movies and Florida Gator Football.
