Maude Hollis Linville – Obituary

MaudeMaude Hollis Linville, age 99, of Florence passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Florence Nursing Home. She loved her family and her church. Visitation will be Sunday, May 26, 3:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. at Spry~Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at North Wood United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Redding and Rev. Stanley Clark officiating. Interment will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Phillip Gambrell, Jason Hollis, Mark Henderson, David Paul Hollis, Stephen Linville, and Trey Stanfield. Friends and relatives who will serve as honorary pallbearers include Paul Rice, Edward Gambrell, Don Franklin, Rodney Hollis, David Hollis, Milton Hollis Jr., and Walter Ingle. Mrs. Linville was a member of North Wood UMC and had many years of faithful service to the Church including the establishment and support of the children’s daycare center at North Wood UMC. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women. She was born near Iron City, Tennessee to W.W. (Bud) and Jennie Hollis. God blessed her with her husband of 54 years, Edwin W. Linville, who preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death were three brothers, Clifford, Milton and Rodney Hollis and one sister, Virginia Franklin. Survivors include her children, James W. Linville ( Linda) of Owens Cross Roads, AL and Sandra Stanfield (Gerry) of Lakeland, FL.; Sister, Ruby Gambrell Gibson (J.C.) of Florence; Grandchildren, Melissa Atchley and Amanda Linville, both of Huntsville, AL, Stephen Linville (Nicole) of Alpharetta, GA, Trey Stanfield (Cristina) of Lakeland, FL, and Jeff Stanfield (Tracy) of Florence; Great Grandchildren, Branden and Connor Stanfield, both of Florence, Matthew Atchley of Huntsville, Tanner Stanfield of Muscle Shoals, and Zachary, Noah, and Parker Linville of Alpharetta, GA.; Mrs. Linville is also survived by numerous Nephews, Nieces, Great Nephews and Nieces, Great-Great Nephews and Nieces, and Great-Great-Great Nephews and Nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorials may also be sent to North Wood UMC, P.O. Box 2503, or charity of your choice.
