Mattie Sue Herring, 79, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023, at The Meadows in Fulton. Sue was born to Alvis Wilson Hall and Nona Estelle Wren Hall on August 1, 1944, in Saltillo.

Sue had a strong work ethic. She spent many fulfilling years as a dedicated worker at Hancock Fabrics until her well-earned retirement. She was a dedicated member of Faith Baptist Church. Her life was a reflection of her deep-rooted Christian values, radiating love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those around her.
Sue’s greatest joy was found in her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was always open, and her warmth made all who entered feel like family. Her heart was expansive, and her love knew no bounds. There were no strangers to Sue, only friends she hadn’t met yet.

Sue leaves behind two daughters, Susan Duncan (Ricky) of Mantachie and Ginger Kitchen of Saltillo; one son, Terry Herring (Stacia Parker) of Saltillo; four grandchildren, Justin Kitchen, Maddison Peavey, Jay Duncan, and Tyler Herring; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Johnnie Richey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Billy Herring; one brother, Eddie D. Hall; and one daughter-in-law, Lori Herring.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Pegues, Saltillo.

Services honoring Sue’s life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues with Rev. Rex Yancey and Rev. Phil Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Lee Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Justin Kitchen, Jay Duncan, Tyler Herring, Javos Peavey, Nathan Hall, and Scotty Richey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sarah Grace Kitchen, Jagger Duncan, Jessie Mae Duncan, and Chessley Peavey.
